PASSING OFFENSE: C -- QB Byron Leftwich was intercepted twice in the first half against the Bills, helping to put his team in a 17-0 first quarter hole. But he brought the Bucs back to within one score by halftime. Leftwich, however, is taking too many hits after he throws the ball.
RUSHING OFFENSE: C -- The Bucs only attempted 19 rushes. That's not their game. But falling behind didn't help matters. The Bucs need to do a better job of getting balance in their offense.
PASS DEFENSE: F -- For the most part, the Bucs did a good job on Terrell Owens. But he burned the Bucs with a long TD pass to put the game away in the fourth quarter. Lee Evans had a TD in the first quarter. The Bucs' only two sacks Sunday were the result of good coverage.
RUSH DEFENSE: F -- Unheralded RB Fred Jackson rushed for 163 yards. The Bucs missed 24 tackles and did a poor job trying to stop the run with the front seven. The defensive line is playing poorly.
SPECIAL TEAMS: C -- P Dirk Johnson did a good job of pinning the Bills deep and had a career-high 63 yarder. PK Mike Nugent had no FG chances and his kickoffs were nothing great. Still more work to do here.
COACHING: F -- The Bucs are not prepared well on defense. They're caught between trying to play the new scheme and reverting back to zone coverage. It's going to be a very long season.
