Cardinals: Week 2 Preview

The Cardinals hit the road for the second straight game in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons. Can Arizona pickup a another victory away from home and start the season 2-0?

GAME PLAN: The Cardinals need to make teams pay for blitzing them. They didn't do that in the season opener against the Rams. QB Derek Anderson missed open receivers and the running backs could not break the tackle necessary to make big gains. Defensively, the Cardinals played well but the Rams aren't as powerful as the Falcons.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Cardinals SS Adrian Wilson vs. Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez -- Wilson was dynamic in the season opener but occasionally has struggled against quality tight ends in coverage. Wilson won't have sole responsibility for Gonzalez, but he will be on him a lot.

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald vs. Falcons CB Brent Grimes -- Fitzgerald isn't 100 percent recovered from a knee injury, but he was still able to get open at times last week. QB Derek Anderson just missed him. Fitzgerald should be able to win the matchup against Grimes.

Cardinals RT Brandon Keith vs. Falcons LDE Kroy Biermann -- Biermann is a high-effort player, and Keith struggled last week against the Rams' Chris Long, who is also relentless. Keith needs to be more consistent in his pass sets. He tends to get off balance, which allows ends to beat him to the inside.

INJURY IMPACT: RB Beanie Wells (knee) practiced on a limited basis again Thursday but hopes to increase his workload on Friday. It's still questionable if Wells plays this week in Atlanta.

--RB Jason Wright (toe) practiced fully on Thursday and should be ready to play Sunday.

--WR Early Doucet has a sports hernia that requires surgery. Doucet will be out 3-6 weeks.

--S Hamza Abdullah missed practice time this week with a hamstring strain.

--DE Kenny Iwebema missed practice time this week with a knee injury. He said it's fine and expects to play Sunday.
