Cardinals: Week 8 Report Card

After falling behind by two scores, the Cardinals made a valiant comeback but still fell short against the Buccaneers.

PASSING OFFENSE: F -- Max Hall and Derek Anderson each had two interceptions. Hall's were returned for touchdowns, and Anderson's second ended the Cardinals' best chance to tie the game in the final minutes.

RUSHING OFFENSE: B -- The Cardinals rushed for 100 yards on 23 carries but could never spring Beanie Wells for a big gain. Coach Ken Whisenhunt needs to commit to calling more runs.

PASS DEFENSE: D -- The Bucs had only one touchdown through the air, but they had gains of 47, 29 and 53 yards. The Cardinals didn't put much pressure on quarterback Josh Freeman.

RUSH DEFENSE: D -- Despite injuries along the line, the Bucs were able to pound away, gaining 154 yards on 30 carries. LeGarrette Blount gained 120 yards and had a 48-yard run.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B -- Kick returner LaRod Stephens-Howling did a solid job and also recovered a muffed punt. Punter Ben Graham did a nice job of giving the Cardinals good field position.

COACHING: D -- Arizona committed far too many mental mistakes on both sides of the ball. The Cardinals have little margin for error, and Whisenhunt twice made risky decisions that cost the team field goals.
