Adrian Wilson slowed by an abductor injury

Adrian Wilson's abductor injury could have contributed to a poor 2010 season and other offseason news & notes.

--Coach Ken Whisenhunt admitted he was surprised after the season when S Adrian Wilson said he had been bothered by an abductor injury all season. Wilson had surgery when the season was over.

He never complained during the season, wasn't on the injury report and didn't miss practices or games.

"We didn't know how bad it was until afterwards," Whisenhunt said. "But I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he did and I believe that this year we will see more of the old Adrian because he'll be healthier.

"It's pretty apparent that he was affected. Any time you have the type of injury that he had, it's very difficult to change direction, to move."

--WR Steve Breaston is waiting to see if he'll become a free agent or not, but he's not anxious about it. He's taking a big-picture view, knowing that team employees who make a lot less money are more affected by a lockout. His fate, he said, is in the hands of the "suits and ties" now.

--K Jay Feely, the team's player representative, has been involved in CBA negotiations. He was optimistic that a deal could be reached in the final week of mediation. "I was hopeful I could be the voice of reason and look for logical, reasonable answers," he said.

Feely said he understands the owners' view about the current economic model being unsustainable, but like other players, he wants proof. "Without knowing any of the true financials, it was impossible for us to give back such a large portion of money."

--S Matt Ware remains optimistic a deal will get done. "I'm very optimistic there won't be a work stoppage. Hopefully, something gets worked out and we'll be back as soon as possible."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I miss the relationships. I miss seeing the players. I think that in season, in training camp there is always the fear of a job or the fear of not playing or you are dealing with stress preparing for a game. But when you get to this time of year, there is no cut coming up. You get a chance to look at guys and you really get a chance to build relationships with players. That is a good time of year." - Coach Ken Whisenhunt on the lockout.
