-- RG Rex Hadnot continues to hold off Deuce Lutui for the starting job. Lutui reported overweight and Hadnot has done a decent job.
-- FB Reagan Maui'a has made a strong challenge to be on the roster, which is a bit of a surprise. The club drafted a fullback, Anthony Sherman, in the fifth round. There probably is only room for one of them on the roster. That's expected to be Sherman, but Maui'a has blocked well in training camp.
-- LB Stewart Bradley is backing up Paris Lenon at one inside spot, but Bradley is getting on the field in passing situations. He's athletic and can cover as well as rush. Lenon is a productive player.
-- TE Rob Housler, a rookie, has impressed with his receiving ability and speed. He has a long way to go as a blocker, but Housler already has proven he should make a contribution this year. He is struggling through a groin injury now.
-- SS Adrian Wilson, who suffered a torn biceps tendon in the first week of camp, has been practicing but has had no contact. Wilson is still optimistic about playing in the season opener.
-- CB Greg Toler is out for the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the third preseason game. Patrick Peterson and Richard Marshall are competing to replace Toler.
-- CB Patrick Peterson could be the replacement for Greg Toler at one cornerback spot. Or it could be Richard Marshall. Peterson is going to play a lot, however, and probably return punts.
