Cardinals Fantasy Football Preview

The Cardinals’ 2014 campaign will kick off Monday night, but more importantly, your first week of Fantasy Football will be coming to a close. Find out who on the Cardinals can help lead you to victory and who to avoid in Week 1.

Overvalued
WR Larry Fitzgerald
Yes, Fitzgerald will get his looks and catches but the explosiveness just isn’t there anymore. You’ve heard it all offseason, so this is nothing new, but there’s little upside here. If you have better options, use them, but if you don’t hopefully you can slide Fitz into your lineup as a WR2 or a flex play. Unless he reaches paydirt, you’re likely looking at an underwhelming fantasy performance.

Projected Stats: 6 receptions, 59 yards, 0 TD

Undervalued
WR Michael Floyd
Again, nothing new here as fantasy countless experts tabbed Floyd as a trendy breakout player throughout the offseason. Now it’s time for Floyd to prove it on the field and he should do just that against a Chargers secondary that ranked in the bottom five in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers a year ago. Look for Floyd to stretch the field with a handful of big plays, assuming Carson Palmer can get him the ball.

Projected Stats: 8 receptions, 112 yards, 1 TD

Sleeper
RB Jonathan Dwyer
Andre Ellington’s speed and flash stole the headlines heading into this year’s campaign, but Dwyer is sitting ready to pounce on some work – particularly at the goal line. As good as Ellington was last year and can be in 2014, his limited physical stature isn’t suited for the power run game. That’s where Dwyer will come in and could score a touchdown or two on any given week. If you’re desperate at running back, there’s a glimmer of hope here.

Projected Stats: 6 carries, 28 yards, 1 TD
