The Arizona Cardinals have a large gap to fill on the defensive line.
DT Dan Williams, who’s anchored the interior of the Cardinals defensive line since arriving in 2010, is now an Oakland Raider.
Williams was a highly coveted free-agent prospect due to his exceptional run-stopping ability and his knack for being able to play in both 3-4 and 4-3 defensive schemes. Arizona was one of the few teams to deploy both fronts in which Williams was the key cog in the middle.
Arizona’s defense could be in for a transition due to the departure of Todd Bowles to the New York Jets, but the team is also expected to stay fairly consistent with its strategy.
Regardless of how that shakes out, the Cardinals will have a massive man to replace inside in the trenches.
