Rob Housler is now a member of the Cleveland Browns. The former Arizona Cardinals tight end signed with Cleveland yesterday after four relatively disappointing seasons in a Cardinal uniform.
A former third-round pick in the 2011 draft, Housler caught 105 passes for 1,133 yards and a touchdown during his tenure in the desert. Housler managed only nine receptions for 129 yards in 2014, by far the worst output of his career.
With John Carlson and Troy Niklas already on the roster, Housler became dispensable this offseason. Arizona invested a second-round draft pick in Niklas last year and will look to utilize his talents more in 2015. Niklas caught only three passes for 38 yards during his rookie campaign.
Carson, meanwhile, emerged as the Cardinals top target at tight end, racking up 33 grabs for 350 yards and a score. Look for Carlson and Niklas to shoulder the load at tight end in 2015.
