Cardinals keeping draft preparation simple

The NFL Draft is a mad science but the Arizona Cardinals and GM Steve Keim are trying to keep things simple.

The NFL draft is certainly a mad science but Cardinals GM Steve Keim likes to keep it simple.

This time of year every NFL team is scrambling in preparing for the ever so important NFL Draft. The Arizona Cardinals and GM Steve Keim, however, try to take a different approach.

Luckily for Keim and company, the Cardinals roster is in relatively good shape heading into the 2015 campaign. That said, the team still has to address a handful of positions and there’s always a need to get better and younger through the draft regardless of the existing talent on the roster.

Keim tries hard not to over-analyze players and instead lets their game tape and workout results speak for themselves. Of course, meetings and getting to know potential draft picks is also a part of the equation.

Amongst the top priorities for Keim and coach Bruce Arians will be obtaining a pass rusher and help at running back. Arizona has also been successful with the best player available mentality in recent years and could stay the course on that strategy as well.
