Arizona Cardinals Training Camp Update

The Arizona Cardinals wrapped up its first weekend of training camp with a handful of injuries and some interesting depth chart combinations. Find out the latest on these topics and a quarterback update inside.

Injury Update

Amongst the key injury suffered this weekend included rookie RB David Johnson, TE Darren Fells and LB Sean Weatherspoon. None of the injuries are considered serious but we'll continue to monitor each situation.

These are most likely cramping and hamstring issues, which are very common for this time of year as players work back into game shape.

QB Update

It's been reported that QB Carson Palmer's arm strength is stronger than ever and he certainly displayed that this past weekend. Palmer's velocity and accuracy were both on point, something that bodes well in his continued rehab.

Let's not forget that Palmer battled with shoulder injuries a year ago, before going down for the season with an ACL injury.

While Drew Stanton has the backup job locked up, the race for the team's third signal caller could get interesting.

Logan Thomas will be given every opportunity to win (and keep) the job, but his progression has been slow according to many pundits. Thomas appeared to be the clear No. 3 over the weekend but will continue to battle with Phillip Sims and Chandler Harnish for that honor.

Secondary Depth

The Cardinals have tremendous depth in the secondary and will be searching for ideal player combinations throughout camp and the preseason.

With four impact players at safety (Tyrann Mathieu, Deone Bucannon, Rashad Johnson and Tony Jefferson), it will be intersting to see how they all see consistent action.

We expect to see plenty of nickel formations on defense with one of these players above filling the role of outside linebacker.
