In this week’s “where did that come from” segment, we highlight Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells.
The Cardinals tight end position was looking to be one of the most underwhelming in the entire NFL, but Fells put those thoughts to bed following a four catch, 82-yard performance.
One of Fells’ receptions went for a 17-yard touchdown and he showed his big-play ability with another 48-yard grab.
Fells, a former professional basketball player, appears to be a legitimate target for QB Carson Palmer going forward – giving the Arizona offense a dimension that it wasn’t expecting.
Along with wideouts John Brown, Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd, Fells is just another weapon for Palmer to utilize throughout the season. We think the Cardinals’ wide receiving corps is sneaky good and the emergence of Fells makes them even better.
Expect fairly big things for Fells going forward and his presence could take the Arizona offense to another level this season.
We wouldn't be surprised to see Fells rack up 50 catches on the year and develop into quite a red-zone target for Palmer and the Cardinals offense.
