While the Arizona Cardinals wide receiving corps has been heavily praised this season, rookie wideout J.J. Nelson was one who was often left out of the conversation. Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown and Michael Floyd have stole most of the headlines but Nelson has been coming on strong.
Nelson racked up 142 yards receiving on four catches against the Cincinnati Bengals, including a 64-yard touchdown from QB Carson Palmer. Nelson has been given a growing number of opportunities of late and he’s certainly taking advantage of them.
Nelson officially burst onto the scene against the Cleveland Browns, catching four passes for 70 yards, filling in for John Brown whose been nagged by injuries in recent weeks. Nelson and Brown both have tremendous speed so they’re nearly interchangeable in the Cardinals’ offensive scheme.
We expect Nelson to continue seeing looks from Palmer and with the host of weapons on the Arizona offense, there should be plenty of opportunities for Nelson and Palmer to connect down the field. Nelson’s certainly one to watch and could play a major role going forward for the Cardinals.
