Cardinals to announce day three draft picks from Grand Canyon

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson will help the franchise announce their day three draft choices from the Grand Canyon.

The 2017 NFL Draft is taking place in Philadelphia, but that's hardly the only location where players entering the league will learn which new team they'll compete for this season.

On Tuesday, the NFL released a list of special locations 14 of its organizations will announce their day three draft selections from, and the Arizona Cardinals were among the franchises that made headlines with the location they chose.

On Saturday, the Cardinals will reveal their newest players from the Grand Canyon as running back David Johnson will be joined by Cardinals' cheerleaders, the team's mascot, and Kristin and Micah Glasser, the wife and son of fallen Phoenix police officer David Glasser, to announce the organization's fourth round selection.

The Cardinals will be joined by representatives from the Arizona National Guard and National Park Service and kids and coaches from the NFL Flag Football organization Flagstaff Primetime Athletics to announce the franchise's fifth and sixth round selections.

Additionally, a Cardinals' season ticket holder will represent the organization back in Philadelphia to make the team's final selection in the seventh round on Saturday.

The Cardinals' decision to highlight the beauty of their home state and announce their picks from the Grand Canyon is hardly the only interesting location a team has elected to announce its newest draft choices from this weekend. The Houston Texans are even leaving the planet to announce their selections, as the organization will have astronauts at the International Space Station and Space Center announce picks from outer space.

The NFL Draft begins Thursday night with the first round and continues on Friday with the second and third rounds. The final round will take place on Saturday and that's the day the Cardinals' brass will head up to the Grand Canyon to announce their selections.
