Scout.com and CardinalInsider.com have learned that former Arizona State Sun Devil tight end Zach Miller will have a private workout with the Arizona Cardinals. Miller was a disappointment at the combine, with virtually every scout saying his stock was falling, but after a stellar pro day at Kajikawa field on the ASU campus one scout apparently said it was a performance worthy of a first round pick.
The word of Miller's meeting with the Cardinals comes on the heals of the Cardinals' release of tight end Adam Bergen. While Leonard Pope is the tight end of the moment there are questions about his blocking ability, something that Miller has consistently excelled at during his Pac-10 career. Miller is also a local product, coming out of Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, and elected to leave college a year early after consulting with several sources, including former ASU product and current Ravens tight end Todd Heap.
While there is no way the Cardinals would use their #5 overall draft pick to take Miller, if he were to slip to the second round the Cardinals could be inclined to scoop him up.
