Arizona Cardinals Pounce Jaguars

Kurt Warner used every tool in the Arizona Cardinals loaded toolbox to take a 31-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in week two. The Cardinals moved the ball well and kept the Jaguars offense out of rhythm to earn their first win of the season and move to 1-1 and hand the Jaguars a dreaded 0-2 start to the season.

Kurt Warner put the Cardinals ahead 31-10 before Matt Leinart got a little more than a quarter of playing time to end the game 31-17 in the Cardinals favor. When in the game, Warner was superb. He completed 24 out of 26 passes, which was good for 243 yards and a pair of passing touchdowns.

Leinart looked rusty, as he completed 3 out of 6 passes for just 22 yards. The game appeared to be over early but Jacksonville scored twice (Mike Sims-Walker and Marcedes Lewis) in the second half to earn its first momentum of the game. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie put the game out of reach with an interception to snap the Jaguars chances of reaching the end zone.

The Cardinals had a variety of players earn points. Larry Fitzgerald scored in the third quarter to establish a large lead that put Leinart in the game. First half scorers were Tim Hightower (7-0), Neil Rackers (10-3), Antrel Rolle -who scored off a blocked field goal attempt (16-3)- and Jason Wright (24-3).

The Cardinals came out of the gates clicking on all cylinders. Warner moved the ball well on the opening drive, which set the scene for the rest of the first half. The Jaguars put minimal pressure on Warner. He responded well to such advances. The Cardinals put up points on their first two drives.

Although Rolle went yard to give the Cardinals their second touchdown of the game, he struggled on fielding punts.

The main concerns for the Cardinals in the first half were fumbles and punt returns. Beanie Wells fumbled, Boldin did as well and Rolle fudged his punt recoveries enough to make a lineup change eminent. Rolle's first fumble produced the first turnover of the game, but the Jaguars couldn't make anything happen with the opportunity, as was the story for the rest of the game
