Center Prospect Talks Cardinals' Deuce Lutui

The nation's top senior prospects weren't the only ones in the spotlight last week in the bayou. caught up with former USC center Jeff Byers at the Senior Bowl to talk Deuce Lutui who becomes a restricted free agent this offseason.

The Cardinals may be set at center for the foreseeable future, but former USC center Jeff Byers shares his insights on Deuce Lutui and his thoughts on his Senior Bowl experience...

Jeff Byers: First off, it's a great honor to get invited to the Senior Bowl, obviously. It's always a goal to get better and try to learn a couple new techniques and take something away from it. Secondly, hopefully I can show some people what I can do and hopefully make some money.

What was it like to play for Pete Carroll?

JB: Pete is a great man. He's very positive and it's always about energy and having fun. He reminds you every day why you play the game.

Did you play with Deuce Lutui at USC? What do you remember about him?

JB:Yeah, I played with him. I still stay in touch with him a little bit...we should stay in touch more. Deuce is a great player. He plays with a lot of heart. You don't see a big guy like that run around and hustle like he does. He's just a fantastic person and a very good football player.

What traits do you and he have in common?

JB: We're offensive linemen [laughs]. We both work really hard and we're both guys who hustle around and try to get downfield (to the second level).
