The dominoes have started to fall. On the heels of seventh-round pick Jim Dray's signing yesterday, the Cardinals inked their sixth-round pick, Jorrick Calvin. Terms of the four-year deal have yet to be released.
Calvin, a cornerback from Troy University, started 12 of 13 games in 2008, his only season for the Trojans. He collected 76 tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Calvin also averaged 25.7 yards per return as the team's kick returner, ranking first in the Sun Belt Conference. Calvin missed his senior season due to personal and academic issues.
The Baton Rouge native is expected to contribute in the Cardinals' secondary, one of the team's biggest question marks heading into the 2010 campaign. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Greg Toler are currently slotted as the starters but there is little depth behind them. Calvin will also be involved with the special teams unit, particularly in the return game.
To make room for Calvin on the roster, Arizona released rookie free agent Juamorris Stewart, a wide receiver from Southern University.
