Preparing for a Monday night matchup in Tennessee and healing were the priorities Thursday afternoon as the Arizona Cardinals moved into the final stretch of their time in Flagstaff. The Big Red went through a light workout, but there were still plays to be made and an abundance of competition at nearly every position.
Highlights: With players in skeleton pads, competition amongst the quarterbacks became the main attraction. Each of the signal callers launched passes from 45 yards out, attempting to sink balls into trash cans. Despite high winds Matt Leinart connected, making him the only one to sink a pass and earning loud cheers from the gallery. Leinart even took a bow to the chagrin of his teammates.
The battle between undrafted rookie cornerbacks has been an interesting storyline in camp. Both Marshay Green and A.J. Jefferson have performed well when given opportunities. Jefferson picked off a Max Hall pass during 7-on-7 drills, but it has been Green who has put together the most complete camp. Both players will be under the microscope during Arizona's remaining preseason games, as the Cards need playmakers at cornerback.
Staying on the subject, Greg Toler had another solid practice, making an interception during drills. If he keeps up his level of play, Toler appears to have an excellent chance at starting opposite Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Coach Ken Whisenhunt will probably keep Trumaine McBride ahead of Toler on the depth chart until late in the preseason to keep the second-year corner hungry.
Injuries: Guard Alan Faneca, safety Adrian Wilson, defensive tackle Bryan Robinson and linebacker Joey Porter received a veterans' courtesy day off, but will play Monday. Injured players stayed the same: receivers Larry Fitzgerald (knee) and Early Doucet (abdominal) and tight end Ben Patrick (knee) did not practice and will miss Monday's game. Linebackers Gerald Hayes (back) and O'Brien Schofield (knee) remain on the PUP list, but Hayes rehab is progressing and he could be ready for the regular season.

Whisenhunt cancelled Friday morning's practice, but the team will be working over the next two days before breaking camp and going on an extended road trip. After Monday's game, the team will stay in the volunteer state and practice with the Titans at their facility, then work out at Vanderbilt University to get ready for the Chicago Bears a week from Saturday.
