2003 San Diego Chargers Schedule

The 2003 NFL schedule was released today and the Chargers find themselves in unfamiliar territory with a Monday night game against Miami, October 27th. The last time the Chargers appeared on Monday Night Football was on Nov. 11, 1996, when they defeated the Detroit Lions, 27-21, in San Diego. The regular season kicks off September 7th at 4 PM PST against Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Pond.

The Chargers play the Broncos at home in week two then face them in Denver in week 11. Denver will be coming off their bye week in the second matchup.

In the third week of the season the Bolts entertain the Baltimore Ravens at home in a late afternoon game.

The Chargers complete the first tour around the AFC West in week four, September 28th, when they play at Oakland in what is certain to be a pivotal early game.

San Diego then travels to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars on the fifth week of the season, October 5th.

The Bolts have a bye week in week six before heading to Cleveland to play the Browns in the Dawg Pound October 19th.

On October 27th, in what could be a celebrated return of Junior Seau the Chargers get their first Monday night game in years.

San Diego then will face Chicago in the windy City on November 2nd.

On November 9th the Chargers play host to the Minnesota Vikings in a 4:15 PST game.

On November 23rd, the Chargers get a break, playing the Cincinnati Bengals at Qualcomm.

Kansas City comes to the Q to face the Bolts the following week on November 30th.

San Diego then travels to Detroit to play the Lions on December 7th.

They round out the month playing Green Bay at home on the 14th of December, in Pittsburgh on the 21st and finish the season at home against the Oakland Raiders.

The Chargers open their preseason schedule at Seattle's new Seahawks Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 9, followed by San Diego's first home game of 2003 against Emmitt Smith and the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, Aug. 16. After a trip to Houston's Reliant Stadium (which opened in 2002) on Saturday, Aug. 23, the Chargers will close out the 2003 preseason against the San Francisco 49ers at Qualcomm on Friday, Aug. 29.
