SDSuperChargers.com is excited to announce the hiring of Annie Heilbrunn as the new beat writer for the San Diego Chargers Scout.com site. Here is a quick introductory note from Annie:
I'm Annie and I've been covering the Chargers for the last six years. From A.J. Smith and Norv Turner to Tom Telesco and Mike McCoy, I've been there through it all -- nearly every practice, game, press conference and event, plus exclusive coverage I've nabbed on my own.
It's a wild ride covering the Bolts, who have yet to bring the Lombardi Trophy to San Diego. The pressure is on this season to make it to the playoffs and beyond, and they will have to do it with a young locker room and a small core veteran group -- Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates, Malcom Floyd, Eric Weddle, to name a few -- that are either near the end of their careers or at the very least, their time with San Diego. They also have to do it under a cloud of stadium uncertainty, as the organization tries to figure out whether they will even remain in San Diego after 2015.
Much of my time has been with The San Diego Union-Tribune as a Chargers multimedia journalist (video and stories on the team) and I also contribute to NBC and Fox Sports. In addition, I work for Mighty 1090 in San Diego. I'm well known for my off-the-field pieces getting to know players ("Overtime with Annie") and my "Out and About" segments in stadium parking lots, talking to fans about the tone of the team.
I'm excited to cover the Chargers for Scout and would love to get as interactive as possible with you guys. I'll bring you all the news out of Chargers Park, plus analysis, chats, videos and more. I'm open to suggestions and comments if there's something you want to hear or see.
Hope to get to know you guys over the course of the year. Thanks and can't wait to get the season going!
