Wide receiver Vincent Brown is back with the Chargers ... and back with his former quarterback, Philip Rivers.
Brown worked out at the facility Tuesday, along with wide receiver Austin Pettis, who was with the team during training camp. Brown was signed Tuesday afternoon.
A 2011 third-round pick for the Chargers, Brown spent his first three NFL seasons with San Diego before signing with the Oakland Raiders in 2014 and spending training camp with the Indianapolis Colts this year.
As a rookie, Brown had 19 catches for 329 yards and two touchdowns, playing in all but two regular season games. He spent 2012 on the reserve-injured list after breaking his ankle in the preseason, and in 2013 he played in all 16 regular season games and finished the year with 41 receptions, 472 yards and a touchdown.
With the Raiders, he played in seven games and caught 12 passes for 118 yards.
Brown was a standout wide receiver at San Diego State University before entering the NFL draft.
The move comes after wide receiver Stevie Johnson exited the fourth quarter of the Broncos game with a groin injury, and WR Dontrelle Inman was carted off the field in the first half after taking a hard hit to the head and suffering a neck strain. WR Malcom Floyd continues to play through a torn labrum, and young receiver Javontee Herndon is still learning how to be successful in the NFL. The Chargers also have undrafted rookie Tyrell Williams, but he, too, is learning the ropes.
The team is expected to make a corresponding move Wednesday.
