Public Encouraged To Attend, Offer Input

SAN DIEGO: With a negotiation deadline looming at the end of August, and Council scheduled for its annual legislative break until Labor Day, Mayor Murphy has scheduled a special meeting of the City Council for 10:00am tomorrow, Thursday, August 7th, to discuss extending the good faith negotiation period between the City and the Chargers to May 1, 2004. Public testimony will be taken at the meeting.

"There are many complex factors and far-reaching consequences involved in whatever decision the City makes regarding continued negotiations with the Chargers. The citizens have not had the opportunity to comment publically on this matter," said Councilmember Toni Atkins. "I'd like to hear input from the public before we decide whether to extend the negotiation period for another eight months."

The meeting will be held in Council Chambers on the 12th floor of the City Administration Building, 202 C Street, in downtown San Diego.
