NFL sets rookie odds; Bosa among them

'Tis the season for Vegas projections, of which Joey Bosa's sack number is of interest.

The gambling site Bovada set its rookie odds for 2016, and new Chargers defensive lineman Joey Bosa was among the projections.

The odds for Bosa are set for over/under 5½ sacks. Last year, Bosa had only five sacks in 12 games, but the previous year with the Buckeyes he had 13½ sacks in 15 games.

Here are the rest of the bets (with additional information per Tim Yotter of Scout NFL Network):

Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams: Over/under for Goff’s passing yards in his rookie regular season at 3,400 and the over/under on his passing touchdowns at 16½.
Last year at Cal, Goff threw for 4,719 yards and 43 touchdowns while completing 64.5 percent of his passes.

Carson Wentz, the second overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, isn’t expected to be the starter at the beginning of the season, with that description currently falling on the disgruntled shoulders of veteran Sam Bradford.
After the Eagles traded up to the No. 2 spot, where it was assumed they would be selecting Wentz, Bradford voiced his displeasure with the Eagles and said he wanted out. That isn’t likely to happen, but Bovada has currently set the over/under on starts for Wentz at 3½.

Other rookie lines that were set for the 2016 regular season:
RB Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas Cowboys): over/under 900 yards rushing and 7½ total touchdowns. Last year, he had 1,821 yards rushing and 23 rushing touchdowns for Ohio State after posting 1,878 yards and 18 TDs in 2014.

RB Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans): over/under 600 yards rushing and five total TDs after rushing for a whopping 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns for Alabama last year.

Goff was installed with 2/1 odds to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, with Elliot next at 5/2. Henry was given 7/1 odds for the honor and receiver Corey Coleman (Cleveland Browns) was at 15/2.

Others frontrunners for the offensive rookie award:
WR Josh Doctson (Washington Redskins): 12/1
WR Laquon Treadwell (Minnesota Vikings): 12/1
RB Kenneth Dixon (Baltimore Ravens): 14/1
RB Jordan Howard (Chicago Bears): 14/1
RB Paul Perkins (New York Giants): 16/1
WR Sterling Shepard (Giants): 16/1
