Chargers Practice 8/11/03

A short practice today at the San Diego Chargers practice facility in Carson was about who would miss the session, who was back on the field, and how the coaches and team would respond to a 20-7 loss in Seattle. The two minute drill and conditioning were the ideas the coaches had in mind for the hour long session.

Sammy Davis, out, was walking around without jersey. There is talk of getting him better soles on his shoes with more cushioning. He has had two heel injuries since joining the team, to a different foot each time.

Marcellus Wiley, out with a hamstring injury, but was on the field taking it easy.

Toniu Fonoti remains out with his triceps strain.

Kris Dielman, injured in the second quarter and on a cart, missed practice on Monday and was nowhere to be seen on the field.

Omari Hand sat out of the session but is not expected to miss much time.

Who is back?

Eric Parker returned and looked good as per his usual performance.

Leonardo Carson is back on the field after missing the game on Saturday.

The team ran a quick two minute drill with the first and second teams getting their chance to shine. The first team offense got to 25 before running out of time. They were moving the ball pretty well but the two minutes was more like 25 seconds.

The second team defense stopped offense at the 35 yard line as they also ran out of time. That unit had the full two minutes and could not capitalize.

The team ran sprints and various conditioning drills after practice afterwards. The coaches could have been punishing the team after the loss, or maybe it was just preparation for a tough week ahead.
