Scare At Chargers Practice

As soon as someone gets healthy with the San Diego Chargers and gets back on the field, two more players succumb to some sort of ailment. Thursday morning was no different as no less than four players were worked on by the trainers during practice. The most important player, LaDainian Tomlinson, is still being worked on in the trainers' room.

LaDainian Tomlinson, the star running back for the San Diego Chargers, was seen on the sidelines taking his pads off and trying to cool down. In 100 degree heat in Carson today, Tomlinson fell victim to weariness and told Coach Schottenheimer he didn't sleep well the night before. Tomlinson was walked over to the trainers' tent to get wrapped in cold towels and get a vitamin IV He was then taken to the trainers' room where he received treatment behind closed doors.

Coach Schottenheimer said he will still see a "couple of snaps" on Saturday. Schottenheimer also detailed how he felt sick the night before and said the team had a stomach virus going around, and that it maybe attributed to that.

Other missing action this morning:

Hanik Milligan was out with back spasms. Vernon Fox took his place on the field.

Jamal Williams remains out and Leonardo Carson worked with the first team.

Marcellus Wiley remained out. Various ends worked in his place with Adrian Dingle getting first team duties.

Early Days:

Quentin Jammer started the morning on the field but was his shoulder was iced down midway through the session. He is not expected to miss much time.

Kelvin Garmon saw his day cut short as he had the right side of his neck iced down in what was termed a stinger.

Reche Caldwell spent ten minutes down on one knee away from the play during 11 on 11 drills and did not return to the play. He did finish up the stretching with the team. Caldwell's injury appears to be to an ankle.

David Boston again started the day out with his daily routine. After just two snaps, he was out with a minor heel injury.

Back in Blue:

Stephen Alexander was back on the field and looked great. He made a few nice catches, including one along the sidelines on a play fake that Drew Brees rolled out on. Alexander had to fully extend for it to make the tough grab. Alexander also beat his man on a seam route to catch a long pass from Brees.

Terrence Kiel is out running the sidelines and staying in shape doing any drills he can.

Dondre Gilliam is also back at practice. He spent a majority of the day working out alone with the various dummy blockers around the field.

Kassim Osgood was also on the field working hard. He was doing a lot of conditioning drills and working out anything he could with his hand still in a cast.

Other Notes:

Tim Baker had another solid day. He caught two passes for touchdowns in red zone drills. Both times he beat two men to the ball and secured it before going out of bounds.
