Looks like Chargers will need two-thirds vote for downtown stadium

It might not be a crushing blow, though. Maybe.

On Wednesday, the California State Supreme Court temporarily blocked a lower-court ruling that said tax increases (like the one for the Chargers stadium) need only a simple majority to pass, and not approval from two-thirds of voters.

Meaning: The Chargers need their downtown stadium plan -- expected to be on the ballot in November -- to get approval from at least two-thirds of voters ... Which isn't an easy task.

Though the news is tough to swallow for many Chargers fans, all hope is not lost. Maybe.
