Chargers vs. Dolphins on Monday Night

Two native-born sons of San Diego return home this week on ABC's Monday Night Football as Dolphins linebacker Junior Seau and running back Ricky Williams prepare for a Southern California showdown against the Chargers.

Williams, the AFC's sixth leading rusher with 555 yards, has scored a touchdown in five of Miami's six games. Seau, who served the Chargers from 1990-2002, wore San Diego's uniform in 11 Pro Bowls, was named to the club's 40th Anniversary Team, and helped lead the Chargers to a Super Bowl appearance.

"I'm looking forward to it," says Seau. "I get to see the guys I grew up with and kind of raised in that locker room. It's a chance to go to a city, my hometown, and say goodbye to fans who supported me for 13 years."

One player Seau will be trying to contain is Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, last week's AFC's Offensive Player of the Week. "What can you say about LT that hasn't already been said other than he's a special player and somebody we rely on quite a bit in everything we do," says Chargers quarterback Drew Brees.

Tomlinson stands fourth in the NFL in total scrimmage yards (837) and second among running backs with 32 receptions.

Only four running backs in NFL history have posted more 200-yard rushing games than San Diego's 24-year-old Tomlinson (3). In addition, with his 200-yard game last week, no player in NFL history reached his third 200-yard game faster than Tomlinson (38 games), who has posted two of the top three single-game rushing totals of the season (Week 7, 200 at Cleveland; Week 4, 187 at Oakland). A look at the NFL's all-time leaders in 200-yard rushing games (minimum three games):

VETERAN APPRECIATION: Veterans' Day (November 11) means something special to all Americans and Chargers standout LB Donnie Edwards is no different. Born in San Diego, home base for much of the U.S. Navy, Edwards owns a cherished collection of approximately 3,000 military artifacts, including pictures, helmets, medals, uniforms, pamphlets, bayonets and patches. Edwards, whose grandparents served in World War II and the Korean War, often visits local military bases on his days off to speak with servicemen and women, expressing encouragement and appreciation. In May, Edwards joined teammates Darren Bennett and David Binn and flew to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to spend two days on the ship with troops returning home from the war in Iraq. During their visit aboard the carrier, President GEORGE W. BUSH addressed the nation on Iraq from the ship.

BEST VS. WEST: Since 1997, no team in the NFL has a better winning percentage against one division than the Dolphins vs. the AFC West. In the past seven years, Miami is 15-1 (.938) against AFC West teams, outscoring them by an average of 8.5 points per game. The Dolphins will try to better their record against the AFC West Chargers on Monday night.
