Chargers - Steelers Post Game Notes

LaDainian Tomlinson moved up the charts five different times on Sunday. He tied two records, set one team record and moved up the San Diego Chargers annals on two others. All this despite hurting his right shoulder in the second quarter after James Farrior gave him "a pretty good shot."

Tomlinson, who entered the game leading the NFL in combined yardage, surpassed Natrone Means for second all-time in franchise history in rushing yards with a third quarter run. Tomlinson passed Means, 4,279 yard rushing, in just his third NFL season. Paul Lowe ranks first in team annals with 4,972 yards. He also moved into sole possession of third place on the teams' rushing touchdown leader board. With two rushing touchdowns, his 34th and 35th, LT passed Means who had 34.

Tomlinson became just the fifth back to score ten touchdowns in the first three seasons of his career. Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders are the others.

Tomlinson became just the second running back in NFL history to have 90 receptions and over 1,000 rushing yards in one season. His 90th catch was a swing pass that he lost six yards on.

His 91st reception, coming late in the second quarter, broke the single season Chargers record of 90 set by Tony Martin.

Tomlinson was taken out of the game in the fourth quarter to rest his right shoulder when the game was out of hand.

Kassim Osgood had a career day on Sunday. He tallied four receptions for 102 yards and a 57 yard touchdown.

Defensive end Otis Leverette's third quarter sack of Tommy Maddox was the first of his career.

Linebacker Stephen Cooper's sack was also the first of his career.

The Chargers wrapped up their swing through the AFC North by going 1-3. Losses at home to the Bengals and Ravens, a road loss to the Steelers and a road win at Cleveland.

The Chargers have given up 36 touchdown passes, more than twice the league average.

San Diego has lost 19 of 24 since starting 6-1 last season.

Drew Brees is now 1-9 as a starter on the season and he has turned the ball over 17 times.

With three turnovers on the day, it marks the sixth time San Diego has committed three or more turnovers in a game this season.

With his third reception, a 20 yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, Hines Ward became just the fifth receiver in Steelers history to top 5,000 yard receiving. It took Ward just six seasons to accomplish the feat. He also has catches in a team record 87 consecutive games.

Tommy Maddux set a team record for passing attempts in a season with 492 and a game to go. The record was previously held by Neil O'Donnell with 486 in 1993.

Randle El has now completed 11-of-12 passes in his brief NFL career. He's also the same height as "America's Midget" Doug Flutie. Just throwing that out there.

After two Chargers possessions, the Bolts had a grand total of two yards compared to Pittsburgh's 133 after two drives.

Inactives: Punter/kickoff specialist Mike Scifres, linebacker Matt Wilhelm, center Jason Ball, tackle Solomon Page, wide receiver Reche Caldwell, tight end Josh Norman, defensive end Omari Hand and defensive tackle Joe Salave'a.
