Chargers Sign Leander Jordan

The San Diego Chargers are starting to take small bites into free agency. Earlier today the Bolts signed Steve Foley and in the evening they added Leander Jordan, another former third round pick.

Leander Jordan, 6-4, 322 pounds, spent his first two seasons with the Carolina Panthers before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2002. He was originally drafted in third round, 82nd overall.

As a rookie in 2000 Jordan was inactive for all 16 games. In 2001 he played in 13 games and made five starts at right guard for the Panthers.

He was picked up by Jacksonville and spent the 2002 season on the inactive list.

Jordan played in six games for Jacksonville in 2003, seeing action at both guard and tackle.

Jordan was signed to a three year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available.

The immediate thinking is Jordan was signed to provide depth, primarily at left tackle and guard. He backed up Mike Pearson this past season and at one point in preseason he was pushing him for the starting job.
