San Diego Chargers about to sign…

Two more San Diego Chargers draft picks were on the verge of signing deals on Monday which would leave just a few unsigned picks on the table. There were some loose ends to tie up but one was expected today while the other could be in on Tuesday.

Carlos Joseph, a seventh round pick out of Miami, was expected to finalize a deal on Monday, according to agent Bus Cook. Cook is also the agent for Michael Turner, a fifth round pick, and his deal was expected to be finalized on Tuesday.

As the deals were still pending, Cook was not ready to give out contract terms.

"Carlos should be today," Cook said. "We have pretty much agreed to it. We are just waiting to get some little things worked out. They will be in camp on time."

"They are there today as a matter of fact," Cook added as both are in Carson for rookie orientation to camp.

On another front, the agent for Igor Olshansky and Dave Ball, Bruce Tollner, was not as close.

"Little communication, no action," Tollner said. "They are both down there."

Tollner expected things to heat up in the next day or two for both players.

According to a spokesman for agent Jimmy Sexton., "everything is going smoothly," regarding the signing of Philip Rivers, indicating the deal is expected to be done on time.

Official word from his agent was expected this afternoon on the actual progress of negotiations.

The Chargers have officially signed five of their 11 draft picks to date.
