Chargers form practice squad

The San Diego Chargers formed their practice squad on Monday. Not surprisingly, the team returned many of the players they cut on Sunday. They signed seven to the squad, leaving one spot open for potential future use.

The Chargers practice squad will consist of:

Robb Butler
Jonathan Cox
Brock Edwards
Malcom Floyd
Carlos Joseph
Jerrell Pippens
Robert Pollard

Joseph is the only player that was actually drafted by the team and he was cut when the team pared down to 53.

Players on the practice squad can be signed by another team to their active roster at any time during the season and counts on the active roster for three weeks and will be paid accordingly even if he is let go before then. They cannot sign with another club to be a part of their practice squad while a member of a practice squad.

Defensive end Otis Leverette signed with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, a day after he was released by the San Diego Chargers.
