Phil Bogle, 6-3, 332, started 13 of 15 games played at right tackle and right guard in 2003. He went to training camp with the Chargers in 2004 and surprisingly was waived on Sept. 5.
Bogle actually started over Courtney VanBuren as a rookie and undrafted free agent out of New Haven.
Courtney Van Buren started seven of eight games played at right tackle as a rookie in 2003. In the offseason, Van Buren worked out at left tackle. He was supplanted by rookie Shane Olivea at right tackle.
He saw action as a reserve in the 2004 season opener at Houston and was inactive for last Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
The Chargers also placed practice squad tight end Brock Edwards on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury. The team signed tight end Chad Hayes to replace Edwards on the practice squad. Hayes, 6-6, 254, went to training camp with Cincinnati in 2004.
