Dr. J's NFL power rankings week 3

The Titans have turned into an oxymoron. They are anything but big.

The digging has begun for the Niners – about time they joined the ranks of us regular folk.

The Pats take the bye week to reflect on history in the making. Anyone cheering for Buffalo this week?

1) New England (2-0)
Last week: 1st, Bye
Doesn't it seem like we haven't seen the Pats in a month?

2) Philadelphia (3-0)
Last Week: 2nd, Defeated Detroit 30-13
Terrell Owens paying dividends early and often, but will it last?

3) Seattle (3-0)
Last Week: 3rd, Defeated San Francisco 34-0
Seahawks hand Niners their 1st shutout since 1977

4) Indianapolis (2-1)
Last Week: 4th, Defeated Green Bay 45-21
Colts did not call a running play until 8 minutes left in the second quarter!

5) Minnesota (2-1)
Last Week: 5th, Defeated Chicago 27-22
Looks like the Vikings want to be the Greatest Show on Turf.

6) Atlanta (3-0)
Last Week: 6th, Defeated Arizona 6-3
As I was tracking this game, I could've sworn it was Braves/Diamondbacks

7) Dallas (2-1)
Last week: 9th, Defeated Washington 21-18
Players take swings at Parcells? I wonder why...=)

8) Carolina (1-1)
Last week: 8th, Bye
Stephen Davis still hurting. Good thing for them, De'Shaun Foster is actually more effective.

9) Jacksonville (3-0)
Last Week: 15th, Defeated Tennessee 15-12
Team has scored 35 points in three games this season, but only given up 28.

10) Tennessee (1-2)
Last Week: 7th, Lost to Jacksonville 15-12
Man, Steve McNair seems to take some tough hits every year, doesn't he?

11) Baltimore (2-1)
Last Week: 11th, Defeated Cincinnati 23-9
Jamal Lewis rushes for 186 yards, the 7th consecutive game against the Bengals that he's gone over 100 yards rushing.

12) NY Jets (2-0)
Last Week: 12th, Bye
Jets get a chance to keep the Fins reeling.

13) Denver (2-1)
Last week: 14th, Defeated San Diego 23-13
Surprisingly, the Broncos can't do it on the ground.

14) New Orleans (2-1)
Last Week: 21st, Defeated St. Louis 28-25 in OT
John Carney kicks a team record 5 FG's in win. I'm surprised that Morten Andersen didn't have that many or more during his time there.

15) St. Louis (1-2)
Last Week: 10th, Lost to New Orleans 28-25 in OT
Marc Bulger had a great game, but Mike Martz ran a flawed gameplan...again.

16) Green Bay (1-2)
Last Week: 13th, Lost to Indianapolis
Brett Favre and Peyton Manning are two sides of the same coin. Or maybe even the same side...

17) Pittsburgh (2-1)
Last Week: 20th, Defeated Miami 13-3
How would you like to be Ben Roethlisberger and make your 1st NFL start in THAT stuff?

18) Washington (1-2)
Last Week: 17th, Lost to Dallas 21-18
Skins have lost 13 of last 14 meetings with Dallas.

19) Cincinnati (1-2)
Last Week: 18th, Lost to Baltimore 23-9
Lots of yards for Carson Palmer (317) but way too many interceptions (3) and too many to Ed Reed (2).

20) Detroit (2-1)
Last Week: 19th, Lost to Philadelphia 30-13
Reality bites. Lions fall apart early and never recover.

21) Oakland (2-1)
Last Week: 25th, Defeated Tampa Bay 30-20
Rich Gannon may have to hang it up after suffering broken vertebrae in neck.

22) NY Giants (2-1)
Last Week: 30th, Defeated Cleveland 27-10
I guess Kurt Warner is more than just a Band-Aid at QB after all.

23) Cleveland (1-2)
Last Week: 22nd, Lost to NY Giants 27-10
Cleveland's walking wounded can't handle Giants. Defense lost four starters to injury.

24) Tampa Bay (0-3)
Last Week: 24th, Lost to Oakland 30-20
It takes Tim Brown's 100th TD reception to be Tampa Bay's 1st offensive TD of the season.

25) Kansas City (0-3)
Last week: 16th, Lost to Houston 24-21
Third time is the charm or three strikes and you're out? Defense can't stop Texans on last drive of game.

26) Miami (0-3)
Last Week: 23rd, Lost to Pittsburgh 13-3
Dolphins off to their worst start in 35 years. Not a good few months for the state of Florida.

27) Houston (1-2)
Last Week: 29th, Defeated Kansas City 24-21
A win this week means David Carr cuts his hair...

28) Buffalo (0-2)
Last Week: 28th, Bye
Bills get a shot at the World Champs this week.

29) San Diego (1-2)
Last Week: 27th, Lost to Denver 23-13
Marty Schottenheimer, have you ever heard the phrase "pounding square pegs into round holes?"

30) Chicago (1-2)
Last Week: 26th, Lost to Minnesota 27-22
You know it's desperation time in Chicago when they are looking at Tim Couch and maybe even Jeff George to help solve their QB woes.

31) San Francisco (0-3)
Last Week: 31st, Lost to Seattle 34-0
The Niners are a Tom Petty song...Freefallin'

32) Arizona (0-3)
Last Week: 32nd, Lost to Atlanta 6-3
Here's what Falcons fans in Atlanta paid big bucks to see on Sunday: Eight turnovers, four by each team, and no touchdowns.
