Pleading the fourth

I don't know what it is. Maybe the stars don't align right in the fourth quarter. Perhaps the zodiac is not on our side. Something changes in the fourth when it comes to this team. They have been solid for three quarters all year, it seems like this team just relaxes a bit too much when it comes to the fourth.

The defense no longer attacks. They just sit there playing that awful prevent defense that does nothing but prevent wins. The offense stops doing anything, running for no gain or dropping catchable balls.

The Chargers need to stay aggressive in the last 15 minutes of the game; they just seem to look dreary out there. They need to continue to attack. Vick didn't win the game last Sunday as much as the Chargers gave it to him. Moral victories mean nothing to the playoffs. A loss is a loss whether it is by one point or by 21 points. It is a loss when they make the tally at the end of the year.

If anything they are showing a commitment to this year and not just waiting for next with the addition of Keenan McCardell and Bobby Shaw. I still have faith in Kassim Osgood and Eric Parker; they did not have a bad game last Sunday. Adding two proven veteran receivers will, in fact, help them play better.

This team needed to take more of the heat off LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates. Now they have the personal to do it. Brees now has two legitimate threats at receiver and a proven number one in Mcardell.

This team is improving and the excitement builds every week I see them play. This team is on the verge of something big. A lot of people think we might regress when Rivers takes over next year (see Cincinnati). There are a lot of comparisons going on. Then again this team should be 0-5 or 1-4 if you ask the so called experts.

There is a new feeling in Charger-ville my friends. I can feel it in the air. I can hear it in the voices of the fans. I can hear it in the voices of players, coaches and management. It is coming. I don't know when. I don't know where. But this team is going to explode and they are going to get on a pace that once again is going to make this city rock. Get ready, get pumped, get your Charger Blue.

The lightning and thunder you have seen the last few days not only is coming from the sky but it is coming from the Charger complex. It is the sound of a team gearing up to take on the NFL and, besides, what the heck do they have to lose. They are the worst team in football, remember. I am just glad they don't think so and they are playing like winners. Now if they can only play like it for four quarters on a consistent basis.
