Dr J's NFL Power Rankings: Week 10

This week is especially hard, not because there are so many good teams, but there are so many mediocre to bad teams out there.

1) Pittsburgh (8-1)
Last Week: 1st, Defeated Cleveland 24-10
Seven straight wins is team's longest streak since 1978.

2) New England (8-1)
Last week: 2nd, Defeated Buffalo 29-6
Pats beat up on Bills in a game not even as close as the score indicates.

3) Philadelphia (8-1)
Last Week: 3rd, Defeated Dallas 49-21
Funny promo with Terrell Owens to start last night's MNF. And for all you prudes, it was FUNNY! Lighten up!

4) Indianapolis (6-3)
Last Week: 5th, Defeated Houston 49-14
Peyton Manning has 31 TD passes this season and is on pace to have 55!

5) San Diego (6-3)
Last Week: 4th, Bye
Second half of season begins with games against Raiders, Chiefs, and Broncos.

6) Denver (6-3)
Last week: 6th, Bye
Broncos hoping the bye week did safety John Lynch and defensive end Trevor Pryce some good.

7) Baltimore (6-3)
Last Week: 7th, Defeated NY Jets 20-17 in OT
Is there a better safety in football than Ed Reed?

8) Atlanta (7-2)
Last Week: 9th, Defeated Tampa Bay 24-14
Are these guys as good as their record indicates?

9) Jacksonville (6-3)
Last Week: 11th, Defeated Detroit 23-17
I guess great comebacks victories are contagious among the Jaguar quarterbacks.

10) Green Bay (5-4)
Last Week: 13th, Defeated Minnesota 34-31
Never, never, never underestimate the powers of Brett Favre.

11) St. Louis (5-4)
Last Week: 12th, Defeated Seattle 23-12
Rams hold Seahawks to four measly FGs.

12) Minnesota (5-4)
Last Week: 8th, Lost to Green Bay 34-31
A valiant comeback by the Vikings is for naught as their defense fails them once again.

13) NY Jets (6-3)
Last Week: 10th, Lost to Baltimore 20-17 in OT
I love Herm Edwards, but he really blew it not taking over late when Quincy Carter looked lost at the end of regulation.

14) NY Giants (5-4)
Last Week: 14th, Lost to Arizona 17-14
Giants offensive line looking like last year's and that ain't good folks.

15) Seattle (5-4)
Last Week: 15th, Lost to St. Louis 23-12
Paper champions.

16) Tampa Bay (3-6)
Last Week: 16th, Lost to Atlanta 24-14
Once vaunted defense giving up too many points early and blowing too many assignments.

17) Kansas City (3-6)
Last week: 17th, Lost to New Orleans 27-20
Tons of yards for the Chiefs offense, but five penalties and four turnovers do them in.

18) Houston (4-5)
Last Week: 18th, Lost to Indianapolis 49-14
I guess Texans coming out party was a bit premature.

19) Cincinnati (4-5)
Last Week: 23rd, Defeated Washington 17-10
Bengals win first road game and have their first winning streak.

20) Chicago (4-5)
Last Week: 26th, Defeated Tennessee 19-17 in OT
Alex Brown ends OT with a safety for only the second time in NFL history.

Last Week: 25th, Defeated NY Giants 17-14
Emmitt Smith becomes the first player in NFL history to amass more than 18,000 rushing yards.

22) Detroit (4-5)
Last Week: 22nd, Lost to Jacksonville 23-17
Loss or not, a game ball has got to go to Eddie Drummond.

23) Tennessee (3-6)
Last Week: 20th, Lost to Chicago 19-17 in OT
''One foot's definitely on the banana peel,'' tackle Fred Miller said, ''and the other one's in the grave.''

24) Cleveland (3-6)
Last Week: 19th, Lost to Pittsburgh
The pre-game punch to William Green's face pretty much exemplified the day for the Browns.

25) New Orleans (4-5)
Last Week: 29th, Defeated Kansas City 27-20
Saints don't look good during game except when it counted the most.

26) Buffalo (3-6)
Last Week: 21st, Lost to New England 29-6
Drew Bledsoe was picked off by a WR playing DB (Troy Brown) and was benched in favor of a QB recovering from a broken leg (J.P. Losman).

27) Washington (3-6)
Last Week: 24th, Lost to Cincinnati 17-10
This team was actually ranked #1 on defense. Who knew?

28) Dallas (3-6)
Last week: 28th, Lost to Philadelphia 49-21
Bill Parcells should get a pass for this season, but will he?

29) Carolina (2-7)
Last week: 30th, Defeated San Francisco 37-27
Panthers lose Dan Morgan and John Kasey but still manage to rally from 17 points down.

30) Oakland (3-6)
Last Week: 27th, Bye
Just what is next for this fading franchise?

31) Miami (1-8)
Last Week: 31st, Bye
Owner Wayne Huizenga better decide on what he wants to do with his team and quickly.

32) San Francisco (1-8)

49ers give up 34 points in second half against 30th ranked offense.
