2005 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Shaun Cody

Just up the road from the San Diego Chargers' facility is a player that is garnering national recognition for his work at defensive end. Shaun Cody is proving he is worth all the talk.

Full Name:  Shaun Cody  School:  USC

Ht:  6-4  Wt:  292  40:  4.95

The Good: Athletic lineman that can be used at several spots up front.  Plays with leverage, quickly gets off the snap and immediately changes direction or redirect to the action.  Displays a good spin move, hand technique getting off blocks and keeps driving up the field.  Gets a good deal of momentum going and plays with excellent forward lean.

The Bad: Displays some leg drive but must improve his overall playing strength.

The Skinny: A defensive lineman who beats opponents with athleticism and quickness, Cody has the ability to be used at left defensive end or as a two-gap lineman.  Must add bulk to his frame and has the ability to become a conventional defensive tackle.  Whatever position he's placed at, Cody should have a productive NFL career.
