"The NFL Europe League has helped expose our sport to an ever-growing number of football fans around the globe," says NFL Commissioner PAUL TAGLIABUE. "With a terrific mixture of sports and entertainment, NFL Europe has made great progress in establishing itself as a part of the mainstream European sports landscape."
Five former NFL Europe Leaguers made the Pro Bowl in 2004 – Philadelphia kicker David Akers (Berlin, 1999), Dallas defensive tackle La'Roi Glover (Barcelona, 1997) and guard Marco Rivera (Scotland, 1997), New England kicker Adam Vinatieri (Amsterdam, 1996) and Kansas City guard Brian Waters (Berlin, 2000).
Wide receiver Ruvell Martin collected five receptions for 46 yards, including an eight yard touchdown reception to open the scoring. He was called for an offensive pass interference penalty.
Cornerback Jonathan Cox spent part of the first half in coverage against Martin and allowed two of his five receptions. Cox ended the day with five tackles and one pass defensed.
Tight end Danny Young is a long-snapping specialist who began training camp with the Amsterdam Admirals. Playing for the Fire, Young handled all the long-snapping duties. One of the Fire's punt attempts would be blocked on the day, but the team was 2-for-2 on field goal attempts.
Running back Ahmaad Galloway played for the Scottish Claymores in 2004, rushing for 141 yards and 1 touchdown.
In his Galaxy debut, Galloway rushed for a team leading 37 yards on nine carries. He did fumble in the third quarter after a 26-yard run. That turnover turned into three points for the opposition.
Linebacker Howard Hodges did not start on Saturday but contributed four tackles and a pass defensed.
Isaiah Ross started at right guard for Frankfurt. The offensive line did not allow a sack but averaged just 2.8 yards per rush on 15 carries.
Running back Calvin Murray toted the rock 22 times for 84 yards on Saturday, with a long of 13. He also added three receptions out of the backfield for eight yards.
