The San Diego Chargers will look to rebound from a Monday night loss when they head to the Black Hole to face the Oakland Raiders.

The club swept the Raiders in 2004 for the first time since 1992. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer has more regular season wins over Raiders (22) than any other head coach in NFL history.

In last meeting at Oakland, San Diego possessed the ball for 38:26. In the two meetings last year, the defense limited Raiders to 75 total rush yards (37.5 per game/avg).

In his past three starts vs. Oakland, quarterback Drew Brees has seven touchdowns vs. zero interceptions, winning all three. Brees tossed a career-high five touchdowns vs. Oakland on 10/31/04, tied for second-most TD passes vs. Raiders in single game since 1970 (Hall of Famer Dan Fouts, 6, 11/22/81).

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for his 2004-high mark of 164 yards and one touchdown on 37 carries (4.4-yd avg.) in last game at Oakland. Tomlinson has a rushing touchdown in 17 consecutive games, an NFL record. He is two shy of the NFL record for consecutive games with a touchdown rushing or receiving, 19 Hall of Famer Lenny Moore, 1963-65).

Wide receiver Keenan McCardell (with Tampa Bay) caught two touchdowns vs. the Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII. He was a teammate of Warren Sapp ('02-03).

Last week vs. Pittsburgh, rookie linebacker Shawne Merriman notched his first career sack and tallied a forced fumble and pass defense. Led by a starting 3-4 D-line of rookie Luis Castillo, Jamal Williams and Jacques Cesaire, the team owns NFL's 7th-best rush defense: 93.8 yards/game.


Head coach Norv Turner was San Diego's offensive coordinator in '01. The team aims for consecutive home wins for first time since weeks two and three of '04.

In past eight home games vs. divisional foes, quarterback Kerry Collins has 11 touchdowns vs. five interceptions. In 17 games as Raiders starter, Collins has two-plus TD passes in eight games & has 300+ passing yards in five of those 17.

In week four win vs. Dallas, running back LaMont Jordan rushed for a career-high 126 yards with a touchdown and caught four passes for 22 yards. In '04 AFC Divisional Playoff vs. San Diego, Jordan (with NY Jets) rushed seven times for 50 yards (7.1 avg).

In two career matches vs. San Diego, wide receiver Randy Moss has 18 catches for 247 yards (13.7 avg) and a touchdown in each. In past two games, tight end Courtney Anderson has seven catches for 132 yards. In 9 games last season, he caught 13 passes for 175 yards.

In week four vs. Dallas, defensive end Derrick Burgess equaled his career-high with 2.0 sacks, which he had reached once before – vs. San Diego (with Philadelphia) on 12/9/01. In the past two games, SAPP has 1.0 sack and three passes defensed, including an interception.
