Chargers sign Neal through 2007

The San Diego Chargers have given fullback Lorenzo Neal a two-year contract extension through the 2007 season.

Lorenzo Neal signed with the Chargers in March of 2003 and has been a driving force in front of their running game, paving the way for running back LaDainian Tomlinson.

In his third season with San Diego, Neal has played in 183 consecutive regular-season games dating back to the 1994 season.

Originally a fourth-round choice (89) by New Orleans in 2003, the Chargers represent his fifth team. A Pro Bowl player following the 2002 season and a first-alternate the past two seasons, Neal has paved the way for eight-straight 1,000-yard rushers.

He had originally signed a three-year pact worth $4.5 million that would have expired this year. He has had two years tacked on to the deal. Financial details were not immediately available.
