Chargers sign Polk

The San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with linebacker Carlos Polk on a one-year deal. Polk was slated to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

The 6-2, 262-pound Polk is looking to make a healthy return in 2006 after spending the 2005 season on the "Reserve-Injured" list with an Achilles injury.

Carlos Polk, entering his sixth season in the NFL, is a standout special teams player who has racked up 34 career tackles on the specialty units. He was the Chargers' co-Special Teams Player of the Year in 2003 after tying for the team lead with 16 tackles, and in 2002 he was the sole recipient of the award after leading the squad with 13 stops. Polk has played in 38 games during his career.
