Cromartie and Chargers strike deal

UPDATED: The San Diego Chargers and Antonio Cromartie have agreed to a five-year deal.

The San Diego Chargers first round pick, Antonio Cromartie, agreed to a five year deal that has the cornerback on his way to the Bolts' Murphy Canyon Road facility to take part in practice, his agent, Jason Fletcher, confirmed.

With the Chargers secondary needing improvement, Cromartie is expected to make major contributions in his rookie season - especially in a division that features many three-receiver sets.

He picked off four passes in 2004, returning one for a touchdown. Despite missing all of 2005 with a torn ACL, Antonio Cromartie wowed scouts with a 4.37 forty-yard dash, a 43-inch vertical jump and an 11-0 broad jump at the NFL Combines.

The deal is worth $12.75 million with $7.35 million guaranteed. There is reportedly an option buyout after one season that would cost the Chargers $4.32 million to clear Cromartie from the books.
