Chargers place Jordan on IR, sign Speagle

Offensive tackle Leander Jordan will miss the remainder of the 2006 season after being placed on the "Reserve-Injured" list on Wednesday due to a neck injury. In his place, the San Diego Chargers signed former Browns linebacker Nick Speegle.

Leander Jordan, who played in 13 games last season with eight starts at left tackle and one at right tackle, was injured this year in the Bolts' third preseason game against Seattle.

Nick Speegle 6-6, 250 pounds, spent the 2005 season with Cleveland after being selected in the sixth-round of last year's NFL Draft. He appeared in 14 games as a rookie, mostly on special teams. Speegle finished the season ranked fifth on the team with 11 special teams tackles.

Prior to his time in Cleveland, Speegle was an All-Mountain West Conference performer at New Mexico.

The Chargers also signed cornerback Gabe Franklin to the practice squad. Franklin attended the Chargers training camp in 2005. He spent this past summer's camp with the San Francisco 49ers.
