Chargers tab Craig Davis in round one

The San Diego Chargers selected wide receiver Craig Davis out of LSU with their first round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, 30th overall.

A 4.43 runner, Craig Davis, 6-foot-1, 207-pounds, was the second wide receiver taken out of LSU in the first round and both caught passes from number one overall pick JaMarcus Russell.

Blessed with great hands, Davis is considered a solid route runner who can also stretch the field with his speed.

Davis is also very accomplished as a blocker – a must in the San Diego offense.

He ranked third on the LSU team with 56 receptions for 836 yards (14.9 avg) and four touchdowns. He added 142 yards and a score on 11 punt returns (12.9 avg) and gained 15 yards on four reverses.

The last wide receiver they took in the first round was in Anthony Miller in 1988.

Lightning Quicks:

Keyshawn Johnson is by far the best addition to the ESPN telecast. He is insightful, speaks well, and even noted that his Carolina Panthers should pick a receiver to eventually replace him. He should be a fixture – if he is not already.
