He spent each of the past two training camps with the New England Patriots, but fell just short of earning a roster spot both times. Also, he spent some time in the Arena Football League with the Nashville Kats, catching five passes for 64 yards during the 2005 season.
Musinski is considered a long shot to make the roster in San Diego, but he should collect some good game film this preseason while taking snaps in the potent Chargers offense.
That strategy worked for Ruvell Martin, a receiver allocated by the Chargers to NFL Europe in 2005. Martin impressed during the preseason and, although he was cut by the Chargers, parlayed his strong play into a contract with the Green Bay Packers. Last season, Martin finished third amongst Packer receivers with 358 receiving yards.
Musinski hopes to follow a similar path to success. For most undrafted free agents, the key to success is simply sticking around as long as possible. Since the Chargers will bring Musinski to his fourth NFL training camp, he must be doing something right.
