Game Notes

Quentin Jammer saw his first action of the game on Arizona's 3rd play from scrimmage. The same play that saw MarTay Jenkins score on a 65-yard touchdown reception. Jammer did not have a tackle on the day but was in on numerous nickel and dime packages. He also played in man-to-man coverage on David Boston and allowed just one catch. He did get flagged for a hand to the face penalty against Boston.

Curtis Conway had another impressive game with 7 receptions for 92 yards. Drew Brees and Conway have developed a solid rapport.

Cory Raymer left the game in the 1st quarter and was replaced admirably by Jason Ball a rookie out of New Hampshire. Raymer did not return with an injury to his left Achilles.

Wade Richey helped stop MarTay Jenkins from returning kickoffs with 3 touchbacks and 1 other kick that went 6 yards deep but Jenkins returned. He was tackled at the 14.

Carlos Polk's blocked punt and safety were the first of each since December 17th, 2000 against Carolina. In that 2000 game the blocked punt and safety came on separate plays.

Marcellus Wiley had his 2nd career interception and first since December of 1999 as a Bill.

Ex-Charger Freddie Jones had 5 catches for 39 yards against his mates. Donnie Edwards knocked away a crucial pass to him late in the game and when asked if he was open stated, "I'm open all the time. Even if I got 4 people on me I'm open." Not the happiest of homecomings for Jones although he did have more catches than the man who replaced him, Stephen Alexander.

The attendance of 28,980 was the lowest total in Arizona history at Sun Devil Stadium.

Linebacker Junior Seau (ankle), center Cory Raymer (Achilles), tackle Vaughn Parker (groin), safety Vernon Fox (leg) and wide receiver Reche Caldwell (hamstring) reported injuries following the game. Their status will be updated in the coming days.
