The 6-1 Chargers have been elevated to No. 1 in's power rankings after the top team New Orleans Saints lost to Atlanta. Denver, the only team to beat the Chargers this year, comes in at No. 2 with a record of 6-2. Denver has this week off.

Chargers beat the Jets 21-6 in the Meadowlands in their last meeting on Dec. 18th, 1994. The Chargers secured the AFC West title with the win that day. The Jets haven't played in San Diego since 1990, when they lost to the Chargers 39-3. Oddly enough the teams played twice that year because of a scheduling quirk, with the Chargers winning both. The Chargers lead 17-9-1 in matchups between the two teams. NFL teams are 12-7 following bye weeks this season.

The Jets have been outscored 121-41 in the second half this season, including 18-0 on Sunday against Cleveland.

Stan Humphries and Bobby Ross, quarterback and head coach when the Chargers made their only Super Bowl appearance after the 1994 season, will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame at halftime Sunday.
