Game Notes

The battle of California has been a hard fought affair. The teams in question are the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.

They have each played each other this year and all of the games have gone into overtime. The Chargers beat the Raiders on Oct. 20th 27-21. The 49ers then beat the Raiders on Nov. 3rd 23-20.

So the Championship round of the battle of California came down to Sunday's game when the Chargers beat the 49ers in overtime 20-17.

49ers Week 11 Inactives:

PK Jeff Chandler, S Zack Bronson, LB Saleem Rasheed, LB Jamie Winborn, G Craig Osika, TE Eric Johnson and DT Josh Shaw. QB Brandon Doman is the team's third QB.

Chargers Week 11 Inactives:

CB Kevin House, RB Terrell Fletcher, LB Carlos Polk, T Vaughn Parker, T Damion McIntosh, TE Josh Norman and DE Chris Demaree. QB Seth Burford is the emergency QB.

Game Notes

LaDainian Tomlinson, the NFL's leading rusher, had 88 yards on 24 carries, giving him 1,053 for the season. He also caught eight passes for 57 yards.

Curtis Conway who had 7 receptions for 152 yards topped 7,000 yards for his career becoming just the 71st player to do so. He also became the 53rd player to eclipse 7,000 yards while having over 500 catches.

Drew Brees completed 29 of 50 passes for 336 yards to go with two touchdowns and one interception. He also ran twice for a total of 15 yards.

Wide receiver Eric Parker caught the first pass of his NFL career in overtime. The catch was an 18 yarder from Drew Brees on 2nd and eight, and provided the Bolts with a first down and setup the game winning field goal by Steve Christie.

Tight end Justin Peelle caught his first NFL pass one play before Parker caught his. The catch went for 2 yards.

Steve Christie kicked the 8th overtime winning field goal of his career.

At the end of regulation, the time of possession battle was dead even. Each team had the ball for exactly 30 minutes and the score was tied 17-17 a strange occurrence that surely has never happened before.

Quentin Jammer had a stellar game and was credited with 3 passes defensed and 7 solo tackles. He even left the game with a right leg injury but returned to continue to make plays.

It was the Chargers' first win over the Niners in seven games dating to 1988. This was the second overtime victory of the season for the Chargers.

Injury Report

Chargers linebacker Donnie Edwards and offensive guard Bob Hallen were knocked out of the game with concussions. Offensive guard Michael Keathley sprained an ankle. Cornerback Quentin Jammer and safety Rodney Harrison both got nicked up during the game but returned to action.

49ers offensive tackle Derrick Deese sprained an ankle.
