Shawn Price Signed

John Butler has a way of making former players join him in his new digs. Shawn Price, formerly of Buffalo, now joins current Chargers defensive end Marcellus Wiley, quarterback Doug Flutie and kicker Steve Christie, who all followed General Manager John Butler to San Diego.

Shawn Price was signed by the San Diego Chargers on Dec. 4, 2002 as a free agent. Price was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Bucs prior to the 1993 season as an undrafted free agent from Pacific.

Price, 6-4, 290, is a veteran of nine NFL seasons, including six with Buffalo (1996-2001), one with Carolina (1995) and two with Tampa Bay (1993-94). His career totals include 26 starts in 111 games, 269 tackles and 14.5 sacks.

In two seasons at Pacific, Price registered 117 tackles and 10 sacks while lining up at outside linebacker and defensive end. As a senior, he earned All-Big West honors with 51 tackles and one sack. He transferred to Pacific from Sierra Junior College, where he played football and baseball.
