Barring a trade-up into the NFL draft's top-five, Michael Oher (Ole Miss) will be chosen before the San Diego Chargers go on the clock. However, the temptation to make a play for Oher is palpable, as he and Marcus McNeill could be elite bookend tackles for the next 10 seasons.
Oher arrived in Mobile, Ala., on Sunday and is hoping to use the week to get better. He has yet to talk to any scouts but is looking forward to working with NFL coaches.
"I am definitely excited to work with NFL coaches," Oher said. "That's a dream come true to work out with some of the best in the business. It's a great opportunity."
Oher started 34 games in his career and has experience as both a right and left tackle. A prototypical lineman, Oher is a powerful blocker who helped BenJarvus Green-Ellis break the 1,000-yard barrier in two consecutive seasons.
His accolades include All-SEC First Team, All-American and Rebel Quarterback Club Trench Award. Oher is durable and plays with good leverage and quick feet. He has honed his technique and is talented enough to start as a rookie.
Oher is a gifted athlete who has developed an enviable work ethic. He has worked to get to where he is and plans to continue with the team who drafts him. He describes himself as a great, competitive player.
"I am just getting prepared, just going through everything and getting ready."
