Chargers Sign Eight Players to Practice Squad

Second-year players Gary Banks and Corey Clark were among the eight players who were named to the San Diego Chargers' practice squad on Sunday. Only three rookies were invited to extend their stay in lightning bolts.

The San Diego Chargers named the following eight players to their practice squad on Sunday: FB Billy Latsko, WR Gary Banks, OT Corey Clark, C Ryan McDonald, DE Andre Coleman, LB James Holt, LB Darry Beckwith and CB Simeon Castille.

Several of the practice-squad players already have experience with the Chargers. Clark, a seventh-round pick in 2008, was on the active roster for 15 games last year, although he did not see any playing time. Latkso joined San Diego's active roster in Week 13 last season, but like Clark, he did not see any playing time.

Banks, a former undrafted free agent from Troy, and Coleman, who hails from Albany, both spent last season on the practice squad.

McDonald (Illinois), Holt (Kansas) and Beckwith (LSU) all joined this team this season as undrafted rookies.

Castille joined the Chargers after spending 2008 with the Cincinnati Bengals. He made the Bengals' roster as an undrafted rookie out of Alabama and went on to play in eight games, finishing with seven tackles and a pass break-up.
